Nursery Nurse Job Application Cover Letter Example

Nursery Nurses are very important in the early education of young children, so it is a good idea that you are able to explain at interview how you aim to work with young ones to aid in their development.

You will often be working with parents and passing information to them about their children. You should be good at building relationships, as well as using tact to have occasional difficult conversations should these arise. Parents can be protective and you should know how to approach conversation with them positively and tactfully.

A good Nursery Nurse should be prepared to expect anything. Children can be very unpredictable and can often say or do things you may find surprising or difficult.

You will probably be asked to study a diploma as part of your job if you are not yet trained, or you might be required to go on courses to improve your skills, so it will help if you emphasise a willingness to train and study to improve yourself and your job performance.

As a nursery nurse, you need to know about health and safety around children and what to do if something goes wrong or you are concerned about abuse. Knowing how you would deal with such a situation can support you at interview and demonstrate you are prepared and show initiative.

Dear Mr Brown

I am writing to express my interest in the Nursery Nurse role I saw advertised in the Anytown Chronicle.

I am a qualified Nursery Nurse and I have been working in this position for two years at our local early years centre, but I have decided I am ready to take on the new challenge of working with the health visiting team at your surgery. In my current role, I am responsible for co-ordinating many of the activities we do with the children, including song time, creative play and basic literacy and numeracy activities. I am an excellent communicator, I ooze confidence in my job, and I am motivated and creative which I think are very important traits for a Nursery Nurse.

I have attached a copy of my CV detailing my other qualifications and achievements for your perusal. I would be able to attend an interview within one week and I have a four-week notice period in my existing role should you be interested in me joining your team.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kindest regards

Jane Smith
